Great upgrade for anyone

TLDR; great monitor overall, easier to run than 4K so you don't need to go all out on a GPU, colours look decent for an IPS panel. Price isn't too high especially when it's on sale. Take note to use the cable included or buy the *correct* DP cable as driving up to 280hz requires a lot of bandwidth!Naturally I would guess that you play esports titles since nobody else is as bothered about high refresh rate displays. This monitor should cover 99% of your use cases since its an IPS panel with decent colours that the majority would be going "wow". Whilst 240hz may not be the highest refresh display nowadays, its still faster than everything before it. The big plus here being the price point.... yes, other brands with near-matching specs can be cheaper, but as far as Alienware/Dell monitors are concerned the sub £500 price tag is 'quite' accessible. My experience with it in a couple of months usage? It is ungodly smooth for gaming, I would highly recommend this monitor.

Alienware Monitor 280hz

Really great monitor HOWEVER!! , you do need to tweak the settings , however once setup properly this is a impressive monitor with very minimal to no ghosting. Gsync works with this monitor which is a nice bonus.

Update: I take it all back, false advertisement, avoid this monitor

UPDATE: Take my previous review with a pinch of salt. There are serious issues with this monitor when used with Gsync, and it is likely the reason that this monitor was never listed as being officially compatible. It will likely be fine with AMD cards, as they also work better with DSC anyway. For Nvidia users, if you want to use this monitor to it's full potential like I have tried to for this past year, then you'll have to make compromises to achieve 10bit colour and a high refresh rate. The monitor DOES NOT WORK correctly with DSC (Display Stream Compression), which is the only way to enable 280hz regardless of 8bit/10bit. I've attached a couple of videos showing what happens in any graphically demanding scenario when the connection speed is at 280hz. This also happens from 200hz onwards if you have 10 bit enabled, as this forces DSC by default. The only way to maintain 10bit colour is to limit the monitor to 190hz. Yes, you have to limit your monitor to 2/3rds of it's capability if you have an Nvidia card. With DSC enabled, something as simple as moving a window around your screen shows stuttering and strange artifacts, something similarly observed on 144hz 4k monitors that also use DSC. The serious artifacts only occur in demanding games. I've managed to play all day on Halo Infinite at 150-200fps average with 280hz enabled with only a couple of artifacts the entire time. Switch to something way more demanding like Remnant 2 and New World, and out they come to play. It's very scene depandant, but something like NW has large open plains full of details, it rears it's head constantly. The only other possible fix I can think of is to try a HBR3 cable, which should in theory increase the bandwidth enough to avoid DSC altogether at around 240hz or slightly lower at 10bit.While technically you could argue that the advert for the item is telling the truth, i.e. it is gsync compatible and 280hz... just with massive caveats. It's dishonest to not list the limitations of the display.Buyer beware, but then again this is Dell, we know what we're doing by trusting the Apple of the Windows world._________________________________________________________________OLD REVIEWUnless you want to pay double for a mini LED monitor (at which point why not go OLED?), this is the pinnacle of current 1440p IPS monitors.Extremely colour accurate out of the box for both sRGB and DCI-P3, 280hz on the desktop is beautiful but from the few games I can actually run at 1440p/280fps (HiFi Rush is an amazing example of this, even on my lowly 3060ti) it's fantastic.Another big draw for me was the lack of branding on the front in addition to the ridiculously svelte bezels. It's arguably the cleanest looking monitor around currently, and the casing plastics are all of very good quality, including the magnetic cable tidy.

Great monitor but needs patience

I bought this monitor to replace an MSI curved screen a MSI Optix MAG271CQR 144 hz 1440 curved screen which I have had for 4 years and is now my wife's main screen. So I didn't see a jump in pixel count but the Dell is HDR 600 rated, Gsync certified and 240hz native refresh 280 overclock and flat not curved, obviously. The lack of ghosting is great, super smooth and fast even at 280hz in extreme mode, HDR is a whole new experience in games with colours and definition sharp and bright. I like driving games, FPS and adventure games which this monitor excels in. Windows is super sharp and the text is clear and bold and it's good enough to do picture editing with. 1440 in windows is brilliant as well and gives you so much more room and clarity than 1080. On the downside, it needed a firmware update, which was easy and Dell software installation which is a bit confusing as it states older software is critical when newer software is available. The software is good though and I prefer to use it rather than the monitor button. The monitor button is ok but not the best MSI is better and Asus much better. The build quality is great, cables good, but the box is huge and really not storable so will probably get thrown. The stand is really well made, very smooth but I don't use it as I have a monitor arm, but I tried it and its so easy to connect it to the monitor with no tools required and took 5 seconds. What has taken most time is the setting options its a bit of a learning curve and can be confusing as some settings don't register the screen as being Gsync certified but once you get your head around it it makes sense. The RGB lights at he back are brighter than my MSI but really pretty pointless not having them would not be a deal breaker as they really wouldn't be missed. I got a good Amazon discount on the monitor at £400 so I am very happy with the purchase, it should last a good 6 years or more with such a high refresh rate and HDR display.
