I can't imagine that this would be good in a recipe. While soapwort is a plant extract, it's used mainly to act as a substitute for things like castile soap or synthetic surfactants. I use it to make shampoo.

Q: How much phenoxyethanol is in this? I want to use this to make my own facial cleanser but I'm afraid this preservative may be too irritating.

Homemade Soaps

I bought this to use in homemade face wash and other soaps...haven't used it yet so I can't really say that it deserves five stars, but when I do I'll make an update with the results. It came on time, and is what it's supposed to be.
